Osgar und Adolf Go Hunting apron (A. D. Condo Art)

ABOUT THIS IMAGE Digitally restored Osgar und Adolf comic strip from November 1, 1911. Words by Fred Schaefer, art by A. D. Condo. Panel #1 - Osgar: "Tee-hee, I vill load Adolf's gun mit a double charge. Den ven he shoots id he vill feel like a mule hass kicked him in der collarbone." Panel #2 - Osgar: "Look, Adolf, dere iss a rabbit. My gun iss still in der case. Shoot him!!" Panel #3 - Adolf tries to aim, but is a bit shaky. Osgar: "Get steady! Get steady or you vill miss him! Bungler vot you are!" Panel #4 - Osgar takes gun from Adolf. "Here, let somebody shoot vot can shoot!" Panel #5 - Osgar aims while Adolf watches. Panel #6 - Osgar blows himself away! ABOUT OSGAR UND ADOLF Osgar und Adolf, a bumbling German duo, started out in the panel-plus-story feature "A Little Bit of Vaudeville." Before landing their own comic strip, they starred in various other newspaper features, such as an interview column where the cartoon duo would interview noteable people of the day. They always spoke in a thick German dialect and Osgar, the tall, lanky member of the pair, was forever "pulling one over" on Adolf. The strip grows quite entertaining as it progresses, as A. D. Condo, the cartoonist, and Fred Schaefer, who supplied the dialogue for the Osgar und Adolf strip, introduced many of Condo's other characters into the Osgar und Adolf strip. Mr. Skygack from Mars, star of his own panel, frequently visited the boys. Osgar liked Mr. Skygack, but Adolf, on the other hand, always ended a strip which featured Mr. Skygack by yelling, "I hate dot fellow!" Other Condo characters who appeared with Osgar und Adolf were Everett True, Diana Dillpickles (from the "Diana's Diary" feature) and Inquisitive Edmund.

This is a very good apron, well made, nice fabric - not too flimsy. Good colour and nice clear printing. Bought for son in law for birthday, he works on boats so anchor logo very fitting! He was very pleased with it. The printing is very good, colours nice and clear.

I bought four of these as Christmas presents fkr grandchildren (aged 9-13) who do a lot of baking, art work etc and who have pet rats and cats.. They would also be fine on an adult. The quality was brilliant - it is hard wearing and looks great. The ties were way too long even for an adult and I will probably shorten them. The designs were very striking. The printing was fine.
