Our Lady of Guadalupe Mural in a Restaurant Postcard
"Our Lady of Guadalupe Mural in a Restaurant" by Catherine Sherman
A brightly coloured mural of the Virgin of Guadalupe with the Mexican flag dominates the left side of a Mexican restaurant wall in Silverton, Colorado, adjacent to a rustic landscape scene. Wooden chairs and tables are neatly arranged for diners, with the restaurant's warm interior complemented by natural light coming through the large window. A tin-plated pressed steel tile ceiling adds a vintage tone harkening to the days when the mining town was established in the 1870s. Expired license plates from around the United States line the walls.
"Our Lady of Guadalupe" appeared on the cloak of Mexican peasant named Juan Diego. Juan Diego reported that Mary appeared to him on four occasions and once to his uncle, Juan Bernardino. The appearances are believed to have occurred in December 1531, when the Mexican territories were under the Spanish Empire. The cloak (tilmahtli) with the image of Mary is enshrined within the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The basilica is the most-visited Catholic shrine in the world, and is the world's third most-visited sacred site. Our Lady of Guadalupe, also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe.
With a mean elevation of 11,240 feet (3426 metres), San Juan County is the highest county in the United States. It's also the county with the smallest population in Colorado. Silverton is a former silver mining camp, most or all of which is now included in a federally designated National Historic Landmark District, the Silverton Historic District.
Silverton is linked to Durango by the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, a National Historic Landmark. Tourism provides the gold and silver in Silverton, not mining. Also supporting the population is maintenance of US 550 (which links Montrose with Durango via Silverton), mine pollution remediation, and retirees. In 2002 an extreme ski mountain, Silverton Mountain, opened near the town.
This photograph was taken in June 2015. The Mexican restaurant has since closed and was replaced by a Brewpub. Was the mural saved?

Bought 10 Shakespeare quotes postcards and have framed them individually and placed them around the house Love them, some are funny and some are deep and meaningful! Lovely background on some, excellent printed words. A couple of plain white cards with black print - very stricking

My order was probably an awkward one! I asked for a range of different fine-art prints, in postcard size. It was all freshly printed, delivered quickly and at a very reasonable price. Best quality matt finish I've seen on a fine-art print.

These cards are great quality, I use them as enclosure cards for my business! Hey are a little pricey but you definitely get the quality and professionalism! Repurchased a few times now and will continue to do so :). Beautiful, nice sheen on them, sharp and clear
