The Arc de Triomphe is a famous monument in Paris, France. It is located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, also known as the "Place de l'Étoile". The Arc de Triomphe was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1806 to honour his victories, and it was completed in 1836. It stands at the centre of a large traffic circle, with twelve radiating avenues leading to the centre. The Arc de Triomphe is 50 metres tall and 45 metres wide, and it is decorated with reliefs and sculptures depicting key events in French history. It is a popular tourist destination and an important cultural symbol of France.
