The "peace sign" or "peace symbol" was created for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, but proved to be such a strong symbol for peace that it was adopted the world over. Synonymous with hippies, peaceniks and the left-wing, as well as 1960s and 1970s culture, the peace sign has become firmly rooted into our conciousness.
