Paul de Longpre was a French flower artist born in Lyons, France in 1855. He helped his father decorate fans in his business in France. He came from a very artistic family. Later, Paul moved to New York, and then Los Angeles, California, where he became well known for his beautiful flower paintings as well as his magnificent flower gardens in Hollywood. This particular painting was painted in 1891 while in France.
