Pink Orchid and Three Hummingbirds note card. Oil on mahogany panel from 1871. Martin Johnson Heade was an American landscape and naturalist painter who frequently depicted birds and flowers. Orchids and hummingbirds were some of his favourite subjects, and this painting stands as one of his most beautiful. Cattleya Orchid and Three Humingbirds depicts a Cattleya orchid surrounded by two Brazilian amethysts hummingbirds and a red-tailed Sappho Comet hummingbird in the midst of a jungle at sunset. A beautiful gift for fans of Martin Johnson Heade, orchid paintings, hummingbird paintings, and nineteenth-century naturalist paintings.
