Pink Rhody Card
Coast rhododendrons (Rhododendron macrophyllum) are native to Washington State, and in fact, are our state flower. This pink one shows a close-up of one of the blossoms, with the darker pink pistil and white stamens. The rim of the blossom is pink, fading to almost white, with yellow-brown spots to guide the bees into the centre of the flower. In the background are more blossoms and one dark pink bud, with a few green leaves for contrast. Copyright Gail Storrs 2011.
