Poplars on the River Epte (by Claude Monet) Magnet

This design features a painting by French artist Claude Monet (1840–1926), a founder of the French Impressionist movement. The tall poplar trees on the banks of the River Epte are seen against a blue summer sky with white fluffy clouds; the entire scene is painted with bright broad brushstrokes. Monet captured this scene soon after he moved to Giverny in northern France, and he used a boat as a floating studio. Sunlight is shimmering beautifully on the water, creating an elegant effect. The original work was completed in 1891, and it is now housed in the Scottish National Gallery, Edinburgh, Scotland, UK.
