Poster/Print: The Lantern Bearers Poster
"The Lantern Bearers" was painted by the American Artist Maxfield Parrish in 1908. It is an oil on canvas laid down on board. Parrish's paintings are a combination of fantasy landscapes and fairy tales, with saturated color and luminosity. He would apply bright layers of thin oil paint, alternating with varnish over stretched paper to get the luminous effects he was known for. He would often build depth by cutting out images and adding them to his paper, coating them with layers of glaze. Note: This artwork looks best in the following size: Small & Portfolio

This print is acceptable. The colors are not as rich as the original, but more bothersome is the distortion of the figure on the far left. There is a white border showing when the print is placed in an 11 x 14 frame, perhaps if that had been filled with the image that figure would not have looked so squished? I am still giving it to my sister for Christmas, but I wish it was nicer. More depth of color would have been nice, but really it's not bad. The distortion of the left hand figure is disappointing and I could do without the white border showing in the 11 x 14 frame. Still an acceptable print.

I like the design features on the website. They enable the fitting of a good quality Print to an existing frame.
This Print was of excellent quality. I would buy again.
One small gripe is that the image was not centred horizontally (about 3mm out) so needed trimming. No great hardship and may have been my fault in the setting-up.
Next time, I would choose to set the text below the picture to a smaller font.
Overall - Thank You! Looks good in its frame - Just as expected. I had a very expensive Gallery print of this before. It got damaged - hence the replacement. It compares very well.
