Public bar in the Bridge Hotel

A barmaid and a barman stand behind a curved linoleum-topped counter. There are also four customers in the photograph. The room has a linoleum and tile floor and both the bar and the walls are faced with mottled tiles. The bar's interior features mirror-backed shelves, chromed edgings and fixtures, streamlined cornices and spherical ceiling lights. Other details include a blackboard with a Tooth's K.B. Lager heading, vases of flowers and curtains on some windows. The Bridge Hotel was purchased by Tooth & Company in January 1926. On completion of rebuilding in August 1941 the hotel was a two storeyed brick structure with a fully tiled ground floor exterior and a roof of corrugated asbestos. The architectural style is known as P. & O. Ship Style because of its similarities to ocean liner forms.
