Early 20th Century majolica style tile with a colourful floral swirly pattern in green, red and a blue frame. This stunning tile, just one of many others, can be found on heritage listed colonial Architecture throughout Singapore, on buildings called shophouses. The tiles are said to be 'Peranakan Tiles', Peranakan is what the Chinese call Straits Of Malacca (Malaysia & Singapore) born Chinese people. Some appear Art Nouveau, while others look Art Deco. Really nice image fixed to the tiles in my shower as a background to a soap dish. This was to hide the marks left by a broken soap dish. Just used tile adhesive and white grout. I think it looks good, almost like the drips are falling from the soap dish. No probs. Nice image.
