Red Poppies, In Flanders Fields Poem Card

Red Poppies, In Flanders Fields Poem Card

The front of this card has an image of red poppies in a field, and the inside has the famous war poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae: In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. John McCrae was a medical officer during WWI who worked in the trenches near Ypres, Belgium (traditionally called Flanders), tending to wounded soldiers. He wrote the poem after his best friend died. The deceased soldiers were placed in makeshift graves with simple wooden crosses on the battlefield, where wild poppies began to bloom between the crosses. The poppy is the symbol of remembrance of the First World War.

I think it’s great how you can design your own cards and buy them and they’re not even expensive which is really good. The printing turned even better than I expected
