In this amazing image, stars are being born amid huge swirling clouds of gasses, vapour and cosmic particles. This is star cluster R136, located in heart of the Tarantula Nebula (aka 30 Doradus), about 160,000 light years from planet Earth. Its activity creates much of the luminosity of the nebula. The red and gold coloured clouds are formed by the activity of other stars, much older, which are reaching the end of their lives and becoming red giants or supernovae.
