Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse Magnet

This is a simulated collectors coin of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse in Rockland, Maine. Here's a little information about the lighthouse. From 1881 to 1899 a breakwater was built from the northern shore of Rockland Harbour to protect the harbour from Nor'easters. The breakwater was almost a mile long, and extended nearly halfway across the entrance to the harbour. A temporary light was placed at the end of the breakwater as it slowly grew out into the harbour. Finally, in 1902 a permanent lighthouse was constructed at the end of the completed breakwater. The coin is of copper colour with a gold band around the outside. The wording and relief of the lighthouse is done in a polished silver. A great addition to any lighthouse lovers collection.
