【Maru ni Seigaiha】Wave pattern / Seigaiha pattern was popular during the Edo period. In the Genroku era, Urushi craftsman Kanagai Kansaichi devised this design. / Seigaiha is the name of a piece of Gagaku court music, and it is named so because performers wear Shitagasane no Ho robe with Seigaiha pattern when they dance. It is a continuous wave pattern that looks like a swirl divided into four. Kansei Kanagai popularized this pattern during the Bunroku era.
