This Russian Orthodox church was built on Unalaska Island during the early 1790's during the Russian occupation of Alaska. The green onion domes are typical of Russian architecture. The Russian Orthodox church was declared a historical site by the state of Alaska. The Unangan people who are native to the island still use it as a place of worship.
