Saint Catherine was tortured on a wheel by the Emperor Maxentius for refusing to renounce her Christian faith. The wheel broke and Catherine was eventually beheaded instead. Saint Catherine is the patron saint of students, teachers, philosophers, unmarried women, and apologists.
