Regnier (Niccolo Regnieri) was born in France but left for Italy as a young man. In Rome he attached himself to the followers of Caravaggio, and it was during this early period that he produced the Hermitage Saint Sebastian, a subject to which Regnier turned repeatedly. A Roman warrior, Sebastian served in the private guard of the Emperor Diocletian, who sentenced him to be shot with arrows as punishment for his Christian faith (Jacopo da Voragine, The Golden Legend, XXIII). The slender figure of the young martyr is set against a dark, almost black, ground, and whilst being very striking also contains a hint of sentimentality. Credit: Hermitage Museum

Nicolas Régnier (1591–1667) was a Flemish painter and art collector, active in Italy during the Baroque period. Born in Maubeuge, he initially apprenticed in Antwerp with Abraham Janssens, a painter contemporary with Caravaggio in Rome. It is unclear if Régnier reached Rome in 1615 or 1621–1625. He appears to have met Bartolomeo Manfredi, of whom, Joachim von Sandrart calls him a follower. Régnier served as official painter to Marchese Vincenzo Giustiniani, a prominent patron ofCaravaggio. In Rome Régnier was also in close contact with Simon Vouet. By 1626, Régnier had moved to Venice, where in addition to painting, he began dealing in antiquities and paintings. In Venice, he was befriended Guido Cagnacci. He died in Venice.

I like the design features on the website. They enable the fitting of a good quality Print to an existing frame.
This Print was of excellent quality. I would buy again.
One small gripe is that the image was not centred horizontally (about 3mm out) so needed trimming. No great hardship and may have been my fault in the setting-up.
Next time, I would choose to set the text below the picture to a smaller font.
Overall - Thank You! Looks good in its frame - Just as expected. I had a very expensive Gallery print of this before. It got damaged - hence the replacement. It compares very well.
