Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci circa 1500 Classic Round Sticker
Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci circa 1500 ...When the circa 1500 Leonardo da Vinci ‘Cook Version’ (beautiful all colour blue robe) Salvator Mundi (Saviour of the World / Saviour of the World) magnificently restored oil on walnut panel sold at New York Christie’s Auction 15 November 2017 for the jaw dropping $400 million US with Christie’s Auction fees of $50,312,500 added totalling $450,312,500 … more often stated as sold for over $450.3 million US … I instantly regretted not having studied my art history and particularly Leonardo da Vinci enough! It was also stated that it was believed that some 75% of Leonardo da Vinci’s known works have been lost or possibly destroyed! Some likely had been destroyed in Leonardo da Vinci’s own lifetime by the evil extremist Christian Florentine Dominican friar monk from Hell Girolamo Savonarola who riled up the masses into burning homosexuals at the stake, burning most precious artworks, burning important books, and burning anything related to vanity such as mirrors or cosmetics or rich fabrics. Girolamo Savonarola brainwashed Florentine children into his extremist army and mass mobs even convincing Leonardo da Vinci’s co-artist from Andrea Verrocchio’s workshop Sandro Botticelli to throw into the fires his own paintings and giving up painting and thus dying in dire poverty having no other skills. Some of Leonardo da Vinci’s works may have been destroyed by World War II bombing of Italy one barely surviving bombing being the Last Supper which also suffered from moisture coming through the North wall it was painted on causing the paint to flake away having been painted experimentally on dry instead of impregnating still wet plaster. Other Leonardo da Vinci works over the more than 500 years simply disappeared having passed through as many as some 15 generations sometimes hidden away then forgotten. Below next you can see the profile portrait of Leonardo da Vinci by his personal assistant and devote companion for life Count Francesco Melzi.
