Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci circa 1500 Tile
Salvator Mundi by Leonardo da Vinci circa 1500. This is the oil on walnut panel painting that broke all art records 15 November 2017 selling for nearly a half billion US dollars. $400,000 plus fees ... total over $450.3 million US. This work was owned by French and English kings. Damaged, poorly repaired and overpainted, lost, then found, verified, and magnificently restored. The blue robe paint was made of expensive finely crushed gem stone lapis lazuli imported only from Afghanistan at that time it was more expensive than gold. Ancient sources reported Leonardo da Vinci painted this Salvator Mundi, Saviour of the World or Saviour of the World, which was a religious icon generally painted of Christ in full frontal pose facing viewer, His left hand (on our right) holding a crystal sphere globe for the World, His right hand (on our left) raised giving a blessing. Leonardo da Vinci painted in many thin layers, used his own hand to smooth away harsh lines, and had the sfumato or smokey look found in his Mona Lisa ... all these were found in this work. There are several other similar works some which likely also came from Leonardo's workshop where his younger boy assistants helped him prepare his paints, prepare his wood panels (coating them with many thin layers of white), and helkping his transfer his preliminary drawing outline cartoons on paper to the panel which could be thus transferred to several panels to make several copies of certain paintings. So it is thought that other Leonardo da Vinci Salvator Mundis may have survived from the same Leonardo cartoons. But it is sad to know it is said that some 75% of Leonardo's known paintings are lost or undiscovered, most not surviving the over 500 years of time.
Psalm 23
21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Really nice image fixed to the tiles in my shower as a background to a soap dish. This was to hide the marks left by a broken soap dish. Just used tile adhesive and white grout. I think it looks good, almost like the drips are falling from the soap dish. No probs. Nice image.

My heart skipped a beat when I found this collection of Art Nouveau designs. I have created a fireplace where there was none. Amazing. The tiles were exactly as depicted
