    Sitka is a unique Alaskan town situated on Baranof Island, reachable only by air or sea. It blends Tlingit culture with Russian colonial history, all set against the backdrop of the dormant volcano Mount Edgecumbe. The town looks out over a chaotic scattering of small islands and the open Pacific. The atmosphere is often misty and ethereal, with deep green rainforests meeting the cold, steel-grey and blue waters of the Sound.
