As a former Soviet Republic, Kyrgyzstan shares modernist architectural themes with cities across the Soviet empire. The Bishkek National Opera House and Ballet Theatre was built to last, as it's still in use today. Tourists visiting Bishkek are drawn to the Opera House, often posing for photos outside the building.
