We spent an incredible day with spirit bears. The official provincial mammal of British Columbia, these bears have white or cream-coloured coats due to a double recessive gene that’s unique to their subspecies. They have also been found to be 30 per cent more effective at catching fish during the daytime than their darker-coloured counterparts. This bear is named Warrior, after the scar across her face.
