Spirit lights, also known as fairy lights, orbs, swamp lights, will o the wisp or magic lanterns, are found in myth across many cultures. They most often appear in wetland environments such as swamps, bogs, fens, marshes and coastlines, and on moors. They're said to guard buried treasure, gravesites or ghostly secrets. They can also lead unwary travelers to certain doom, for they're always dancing just out of reach, and people who try to follow or catch them can be lost forever.
