While Scotland is the most famous example of a country under the patronage of St. Andrew, it is by no means the only one. St. Andrew is also the Patron Saint of Barbados, Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine. Here, St. Andrew, clad in a dark pink robe and olive-green mantle with an aqua lining, stands in front of a large, wooden x-shaped cross or saltire which was the instrument of his martyrdom c. 70.
