St. Francis of Assisi, born in Assisi in 1182, was a living manifestation to the world of Christ's poor and suffering life on earth. He is known to be the patron saint of animals and the environment. He was the founder of the Order of Friars Minor, more commonly known as the Franciscans. This mug portrays St. Francis with two white doves in a green field of yellow wildflowers. The inspiring first section of the "Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi" is printed between two images of the saint.
