St. Gideon, Righteous Martyr Prayer Card
St. Gideon, the New Righteous Martyr, 18th / 19th centuries, was raised by pious parents. When Gideon was about 12 years old, he was kidnapped by a Turkish man and forced to convert to Islam. After a couple of months, he escaped and renounced Islam and returned to Christianity. He went into a monastery, but because of his guilt and desire for martyrdom, he went to the city where he was kidnapped and, in the town square, he started preaching. He was captured and martyred.
