St. Teresa of Jesus (Teresa of Avila) (1515-1582): Born in Avila, Spain. Foundress of the reformed (Discalced) Carmelites. St. Teresa reached the heights of spiritual perfection and was granted mystical revelations. She wrote books on the spiritual life, for which she was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 1970. Quote on the back: “Let nothing disturb you, nothing frighten you, all things are passing, God is unchanging. Patience gains all; nothing is lacking to those who have God: God alone is sufficient.” The background is a gold damask design. (Painting from the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Kenosha, Wisconsin, U.S.A.)
