Steampunk - Sleep like the dead 1927 Poster

Colourized photo from 1927, Nov 28 Original Title: Washington man sleeps in a blanketless bed Location: Washington DC Here is a fine example of a light sleeper, who always sleeps with the lights on. A home inventor by the name of Milton Fairchild. He created the first electric blanket, I swear this is true. He said he didn't like the thought of breathing in his own fumes when he was under a blanket. So he came up with this brilliant invention. "The Blanketless bed". It was a coffin sized box, hinged on one side for easy entrance and bathroom escapes. Inside there were four 40w bulbs, each can be turned on and off depending on the temperature you wanted. There was a small control box right by his head. It was basically an easy bake oven for humans. To get in, one simply slides through the tunnel from one side of the box, presumably lifting it from one end. Then just turn it on and your ready to go. There was also a blanket that draped over him to keep the light out, he claims there was enough air circulation in the box to pull the fumes out. It's not said what he did with this thing in the summer, or how he changed his sheets, as this would have presented challenges. It was a great device if you were single, and wanted to stay that way.
