The Stegosaurus is an iconic plant eating dinosaur that lived during the late Jurassic period about 150 million years ago. It is instantly recognised by the bony plates that stretch vertically along its back. A spiked tail was used for defence against predators of the era, including Allosaurus. Stegosaurus fossils are often found in museums.
