Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), is a term used to group together those academic disciplines. The term was first used in the early 1990’s. The designer/author has, from this term, derived a new word STEMOLOGY. “Stemology” is an ology (or branch of knowledge) where these subjects are studied at schools, colleges or university’s as they need a large amount of special knowledge. Primarily applicable to Millennials (Generation Y), Digital Natives (Generation Z) and the EPIC generation (or Generation AO), but is appropriate to any generation studying STEM subjects. One may also refer to these subjects as STEMOLOGICAL disciplines. The graphics illustrate various forms of TILING, i.e. a way of arranging identical plane shapes so that they completely cover an area without overlapping. A monohedral tiling is one in which all the tiles are the same "shape," meaning every tile in the tiling is congruent to a fixed subset of the plane.
