Painted on the South Nation River, near Winchester Springs, 5 kilometres downstream of the Trans Canada Pipeline, in Dundas County, Ontario. Aleta Karstad paints on site, 'en plein air', capturing the essence of each place in oil on canvas, while her biologist husband Fred Schueler explores nearby, preserving a record of vulnerable species and habitats that "might be lost" downstream of pipeline crossings all along the route, from Alberta to New Brunswick In their independant ecological survey of the proposed route of the Energy East Pipeline in 2014.
