Printed on the front is Kanji for Miyamoto Musashi, a legendary Japanese samurai who lived in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Printed on the back in Japanese is his famous phrase that he wrote in
"The Book of Five Rings" :
"Senjitsu no Keiko o Tan toshi, Manjitsu no Keiko o Ren tosu", meaning
"You need a thousand days of training to develop. You need a ten thousand days of training to refine. " "Keiko" means "Training".
