The paulownia crest, along with the chrysanthemum crest, has auspicious significance and has been used as an authoritative crest since ancient times as a design for armor, swords, and their accessories. During Hideyoshi's time, it was further applied to general arts and crafts, making the paulownia crest extremely popular. It was used in everything from clothing and furnishings to architectural carvings, forming a grand and bold style known as 'Taiko kiri.' Most art works from the Momoyama period feature this design ("Japanese Crests").

Good quality t-shirt, I didn't expect too much but it's good quality, matched the invites for my sons party and he absolutely loved opening this on his big day. Went straight to school with it, too! Print looks very good, vibrant colours, washing very well, too. I don't tumble dry tshirts so can't comment on that. Lovely idea for a birthday child!
