Team Maria of Brabant 6 Cm Round Badge

Marie of Brabant was the second wife of King Philip III of France. With three sons from his first marriage, Philip's line of succession was secure. As a result Marie was suspected of being jealous of her stepsons and was even accused of poisoning the eldest, Prince Louis, who died in 1276. When her husband died Marie lost her influence, but remained politically active when needed. She helped negotiate peace with England in 1294. She died in a convent in 1322.
