This mid 20th century US History photo features the Chrysler Building in New York City, an art-deco style skyscraper in Turtle Bay, Manhattan, which was built in 1930. Built by Walter Chrysler, the third largest car manufacturer in the US at the time, it remained the tallest building in the world for the 11 months following its construction after which it was surpassed in 1931 by the Empire State Building.
