The Dream (aka Le Rêve, Le Songe or Reve Exotique) (1910) by Henri Rousseau is a vintage post impressionism fine art painting featuring a surreal portrait of a woman, Yadwigha (Jadwiga). The beautiful lady is lying on a divan sofa couch gazing over a landscape of lush jungle foliage, including lotus flower plants and animals including birds, monkeys, an elephant, a lion and lioness, and a snake.
About the artist:
Henri Julien Felix Rousseau (1844-1910) was a French Post Impressionist painter in the Naive genre, primitive manner or Primitivism. He was also known as Le Douanier, the customs officer.
