    The lighthouse of the city of Alexandria. If known, the first lighthouse ever built. This was commissioned by the first Hellenistic king of Egypt, Ptolemy II. The tower was built between 297 and 283 v. Chr. built and has served nearly 1,500 years consecutively the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Arabs. He was on the Pharos island in the Mediterranean Sea, just outside the harbor of Alexandria, Egypt. In the foreground right Ptolemy II and the architect of the lighthouse, Sostratus Knidos. Among the show a verse in Latin. This print is a part of an album.
