The Montana Bitterroot: God's favourite flower Postcard

The Story of the Bitterroot. In the fall, it pokes through the ground about 1/4 inch. It is awaiting spring. In March and April the green succulent portion starts growing to about one inch and absorbs moisture during the spring time rains. Then that gradually fades away, giving nutrient to the flower bud that forms. In late May through June, the flower blooms like this. Then the flower fades and forms a tumbleweed. The winds come and blow it away and it spreads seeds. The flower goes underground to await September and then begins the process again.
