Joseph Smith ordered the Nauvoo Expositor press destroyed. William Law former Mormon insider published the paper after becoming disenchanted with his prophet's abuse of power. Forcing young women in to "spiritual marriages". Joseph was jailed where he was killed by a mob of patriots who were enraged at his disrespect for the US Constitution. To this day many Mormons believe he died a martyr.
