Thomas Moran was a 19th century / early 20th century American painter of the Hudson River School, specifically an offshoot called Luminism, an art movement known for its use of pervasive light. His work often featured the Rocky Mountains. Moran's vision of the Western landscape was critical to the creation of Yellowstone National Park.
