This design was inspired by the poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, by English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge.At the end of the poem (spoiler alert) the mariner roams the world telling this story of death to all who will listen. In this artwork the albatross is carrying the burden of a human skull. Blue white and grey stripes represent the weather on this epic journey.
