The Shrine (1895) by JW Waterhouse is a vintage Victorian Pre-Raphaelite fine art portrait painting featuring a beautiful young woman. The lady is bending over to smell roses in a vase in front of an outdoor shrine in the spring garden. A flight of stairs are in the background. About the artist: John William Waterhouse (1849-1917) was an English Preraphaelite painter most famous for his paintings of female characters from ancient Greek mythology and literature.
