This is a close up detail of a Magic the Gathering card recreation commission. Fans will recognise Lord of Atlantis from the alpha set. The fan who commissioned this work wanted the recreation with a twist. He felt that the Lord of Atlantis on the Magic card was protecting something, and he wanted a painting that would show that.
