"The Trade Station, Route 66, Tucumcari, New Mexico" by Catherine Sherman
The Trade Station was a gift shop along Route 66 in Tucumcari, New Mexico, that was painted with murals to represent its former life as a Texaco gas station during the peak of travel along Route 66.
This gift shop seems to be permanently closed now, according to Google maps, so I hope a new business moves in and keeps the murals. This photograph was taken in April 2014.
The shop featured vintage Fire Chief and Sky Chief fuel pumps. The murals include a large Route 66 shield; several period looking murals, including a 1959 Pink Cadillac, Indian Motorcycle; and a mural of a Texaco Gas Pump with a station attendant on the corner of the building.
