About the Holy Day: During the reign of King Ahasuerus in the Medo-Persian captivity, Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite (the enemy of all the Jews from the seed of Amalek (Est.3)) due to his hatred towards Mordecia, devised a plan against the Jews to destroy them, and cast Pur, i.e.Lots to consume them and to destroy them. Queen Esther (the niece of Mordecai) made petition to King Ahasuerus to help deliver her people from the hands of Haman (Est. 7th). Haman eventually was hung on the same gallows which he built for the purpose of hanging Mordecai (Est. 7:8) The Holy Day, Purim- Feast of Lots is a time to celebrate and give gifts!
