徳川幕府第14代将軍徳川家茂（1846-1866）は、文久3（1863）年に三千人余の行列を従え京都へ上洛しました。
この出来事を題材に描かれたシリーズ「東海道名所風景」から、芳盛が描いた「府中」です。

Tokugawa Iemochi (1846-1866), the 14th shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate, marched to Kyoto in a procession of over 3,000 people in 1863.
This painting of "Fuchu" by Yoshimori is from the "Famous Places on the Tōkaidō" series, which depicts this event.
