Tombs of the Kings Cyprus Postcard

The Tombs of the Kings is a large, rock-cut necropolis situated just outside the harbour of Paphos, Cyprus. Dating back to the 4th century BC, these impressive underground tombs were carved directly out of solid calcarenite rock and served as the final resting place for high-ranking administrative officials and aristocrats rather than actual royalty. The architecture closely mimics the houses of the living, featuring subterranean peristyle courtyards heavily influenced by ancient Egyptian concepts of tomb design.
