1. Chi-Rho with Anchor History: The Chi-Rho (☧), formed from the first two Greek letters of Christos, was made famous by Emperor Constantine after his vision before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge (312 AD). It quickly became one of the most recognised Christian symbols of Christ’s victory. The anchor, already used by early Christians in the catacombs, represented hope and steadfastness (Heb 6:19) and was a subtle way to disguise the cross during persecution. Meaning: Together, the Chi-Rho and anchor proclaim Christ as the firm anchor of salvation—victorious, unshaken, and the source of eternal hope. 2. Cross of Saint Benedict History: Rooted in the legacy of St. Benedict of Nursia (480–547 AD), father of Western monasticism, the Benedict Cross carries powerful inscriptions of protection. Though the exact design arose centuries later, Benedict’s reputation for resisting evil and temptation inspired its spread. By the Middle Ages, the cross bore Latin initials of a well-known exorcism prayer (Crux sacra sit mihi lux…), and the medal was formally approved by the Church in the 18th century. Meaning: The Benedict Cross symbolises Christ’s triumph over evil and spiritual defence against darkness, continuing a tradition of prayer and strength spanning over 1,500 years. 3. Christ the Lamb with Victory Banner & Sanctus History: The Lamb of God (Agnus Dei) imagery comes directly from Scripture: John the Baptist’s proclamation (John 1:29) and the victorious Lamb of Revelation (Rev 5). From the 4th century onward, Christian art depicted Christ as a lamb bearing a banner or cross, signifying His resurrection victory. The triple Sanctus (“Holy, Holy, Holy”), taken from Isaiah’s vision (Isaiah 6:3) and echoed in the Mass, connects earthly worship with the eternal liturgy of heaven. Meaning: This sticker unites sacrifice and triumph: Christ the Lamb slain yet victorious, worshipped eternally as Holy. 4. IHS with the Four Evangelists History: The IHS monogram comes from the first three letters of Jesus’ name in Greek (ΙΗΣΟΥΣ), widely popularised in the West by St. Bernardine of Siena in the 15th century as a devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus. Surrounding it, the Four Evangelists—each with their traditional symbols (Matthew: angel, Mark: lion, Luke: ox, John: eagle)—stem from early Christian interpretation of Ezekiel’s vision (Ezekiel 1) and Revelation 4. These symbols became standard in manuscripts, mosaics, and church iconography. Meaning: At the centre is the Holy Name of Jesus, radiating outward through the four Gospels, the living proclamation of Christ to the world.
