Train Station - New Hope Steam Railway Mouse Mat

New Hope, PA – This is the New Hope Railroad, originally known as the New Hope Branch of the Reading Company. The station opened in 1891 as a passenger line, which then ended in 1952. For a while it was a passenger station that used a steam locomotive to transport people, but they got bored of that, and I believe it ended in the 1960's. Today its a train station for tourists who want to know what it feels like to rid in a real train for 20 min. During the year they use with this steam locomotive or a diesel and you get to ride into the towns. They then stop at 20 mins, the engine switches sides and you are pulled back in the direction you came. The steam locomotive was added to make the ride more fun and interesting, but you don't often see it, mostly in the Autumn and Winter months. It's interesting to experience a real live steam train, the smell of coal burning always in the air. The thunderous noise as it rolls by. And the droplets of water vapour from the steam is very different, and also a little annoying if you have a camera out. This station, the style is known as a Witch's hat train station, the reason should be obvious. For those that don't recognise common shapes, its because of that cone shaped roof.
